On Sunday, March 29th, Rev. Fr. Jogi Mathew celebrated a special Palm Sunday service at St. Mary’s JSOC in London, alongside Rev. Fr. Jebin Ipe. This day commemorates Jesus Christ’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem on a donkey, an event during which crowds laid down their cloaks and waved palm branches to honour Him. Palm Sunday marks the first day of Holy Week and is also known as “Ošano.” The term “Ošano” comes from the Aramaic/Hebrew word “Hoshianna,” which translates to “Save us, we pray.” The day celebrates Christ entering Jerusalem not as a conquering earthly king, but in a spirit of deep humility. The waving of palm and olive branches symbolises peace, victory, and the welcoming of the Messiah.
